Recovery Support Worker – Bank
Main Purpose of the Role: As a Recovery Support Worker, you will provide high-quality, person-centred housing-related support to individuals living with mental illness. Your role will focus on helping people sustain their tenancies, access suitable accommodation where needed, and build the skills and confidence required to live independently. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, alongside Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs), Local Authorities, GPs, and other professionals, ensuring individuals receive coordinated and effective support to achieve their personal recovery goals.
What You’ll Be Doing: In this rewarding and varied role, you will:
Deliver flexible, responsive support tailored to individual recovery and person-centred plans
Empower individuals to regain life skills, build confidence, and maintain control over their lives
Promote self-esteem, independence, and informed decision-making
Support individuals to access, sustain, or move into appropriate accommodation
Develop and review person-centred support plans, ensuring goals are achieved within agreed timescales
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to maximise outcomes and service delivery
Support individuals to maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable home environment
Provide practical guidance on independent living skills, including budgeting, bill management, and attending appointments
Assist individuals to maximise income and manage personal finances effectively
Promote understanding of tenancy rights and responsibilities
Carry out regular risk assessments, ensuring they are accurately recorded and updated
Support individuals to manage conflict and resolve disputes appropriately
Contribute to the development and delivery of activities and engagement opportunities
Maintain accurate, up-to-date records in line with organisational and contractual requirements
Encourage healthier lifestyles, offering support around diet, exercise, and wellbeing
Monitor changes in individuals’ needs and report concerns appropriately, including safeguarding issues
Support individuals with medication routines and liaise with GPs regarding compliance and side effects
Build and maintain strong partnerships with external organisations
Participate in office duty arrangements and provide cover for colleagues when required
General Responsibilities:
Attend and participate in training, supervision, and team meetings
Comply with all organisational policies, including Equality, Confidentiality, and Health & Safety
Contribute to the wider aims and objectives of the organisation
Undertake additional duties as required by senior managers
What We’re Looking For: We’re seeking a compassionate and proactive individual who is committed to supporting people in their recovery journey. You will ideally have:
Strong knowledge of the welfare benefits system
Experience in risk assessment and support planning
Understanding of legislation relating to vulnerable adults and mental health
Experience working in partnership with Local Authorities and Health/Social Care professionals
NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care (desirable)

A full UK driving licence and access to a roadworthy vehicle are required
