Banking and Finance Officer

Location: Nottingham
Salary: £30,000 equivalent
Contract: Temporary until the end of December, with potential to extend
Working arrangements: Hybrid – 2 days in the office (Tuesday and Wednesday)

The role overview

We’re looking for a hands-on Banking & Finance Officer to join an established finance team in Nottingham. This role would suit someone with experience across banking, reconciliations and general accounting who enjoys getting involved in the day-to-day detail, investigating discrepancies and keeping financial records accurate.

Working as part of a supportive team, you’ll help manage banking activities, complete reconciliations and support the month-end process. It’s a varied opportunity for someone with a practical finance background who can take ownership of tasks and resolve issues efficiently.

The role will include:

Completing bank and balance sheet reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

Monitoring cash balances and supporting daily banking activities.

Processing journals and assisting with month-end activities.

Reviewing transactions and following up on outstanding or unexplained items.

Investigating payment issues and working with colleagues to resolve queries.

Maintaining accurate financial records and supporting audit requirements.

Identifying opportunities to improve processes and make day-to-day activities more efficient.

About you:

Previous hands-on SAP experience is essential.

Experience in a banking, finance operations or general accounting role.

Confident completing bank reconciliations, journals and general ledger activity.

Able to investigate discrepancies and follow issues through to resolution.

Good Excel skills and confidence working with financial information.

Organised, detail-focused and comfortable working to deadlines.

This role would suit someone from an Assistant Accountant, Finance Officer, Banking or Finance Operations background who enjoys practical accounting work and is happy to get involved across a range of finance activities.
