Job Description - Behaviour Mentor

Behaviour Mentor - Secondary School - Barking

Full Time | Term Time Only | September 2025 Start
Up to £125 per day | Long Term Role (Temp to Perm)

Long Term Futures are working with a large, inclusive secondary school in Barking to appoint a confident and committed Behaviour Mentor for a September 2025 start.

The school has a strong pastoral framework and works proactively to support students displaying behavioural or emotional difficulties. You'll be joining a well-established inclusion team and will work closely with the Heads of Year, SENCo and safeguarding leads to re-engage pupils and remove barriers to learning.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with experience working with young people with SEMH needs who wants to make a long-term difference in a structured and supportive environment.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 and group mentoring for students with behavioural challenges
* Support positive behaviour strategies in and out of the classroom
* Assist with reintegration following incidents or internal exclusions
* Monitor progress on behaviour plans and pastoral targets
* Liaise with staff, families and external agencies to provide wraparound support
* Be a consistent and visible presence throughout the school day

Ideal Candidate Will Have:
* Experience supporting young people in a behavioural, SEMH or pastoral role
* A calm, assertive and professional approach to de-escalation
* Confidence in managing challenging situations and setting boundaries
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
* A background in youth work, PRU, mentoring or school-based inclusion

Location and Transport - Barking, East London
* Close to Barking and Upney stations (District Line and C2C rail)
* Bus routes include: 5, 62, 287, EL1, EL2
* Staff parking available on-site
