Job Description - Behaviour Support

Behaviour Support - Alternative Provision
Location: Sherwood, Nottingham (NG5)
Pay: £90-£103.90 per day
Contract: Full-time, temporary to permanent
Start Date: September 2025 (Trial days/interviews taking place now)

Long Term Futures is working alongside a forward-thinking alternative provision in Sherwood (NG5), looking to appoint a committed behaviour support professional. This full-time position offers a unique chance to make a real difference to the lives of secondary-aged students who are not currently accessing mainstream education.

The provision caters to pupils in Key Stages 3 and 4, many of whom face social, emotional, or behavioural difficulties. As a behaviour support practitioner, you'll work closely with these young people to help them re-engage with their learning journey and develop positive coping strategies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver targeted behaviour support interventions on a 1:1 or small group basis.

  • Implement strategies that encourage emotional regulation, resilience, and improved classroom conduct.

  • Establish safe, trusting relationships that motivate and support students on a daily basis.

  • Track progress and adjust your approach in response to individual needs.

  • Collaborate with staff and external professionals to provide cohesive support plans.

What We're Looking For:
  • Prior experience working with students who present challenging behaviour or have additional needs.

  • A calm, adaptable nature and a strong sense of empathy.

  • Background in education, youth work, mental health, or related support roles is advantageous.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.

  • A genuine desire to support young people through positive behaviour support approaches.
