Location: Brierfield, Lancashire
Start Date: April 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term
Salary: Competitive, based on experience

About the Role:

A forward-thinking and inclusive mainstream secondary school in Brierfield is seeking a dedicated and resilient Behaviour Support Assistant to join their pastoral team from April 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young people, promoting positive behaviour, and helping students overcome barriers to learning.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students who may display challenging behaviour or require emotional and social development guidance.
Working closely with the pastoral team, SENCO, and teaching staff to implement behaviour strategies and support plans.
Helping maintain a calm, positive and safe learning environment both inside and outside the classroom.
Supporting de-escalation, restorative approaches, and consistent behaviour routines across the school.
Building strong, trusting relationships with students to help them re-engage positively with school life.
What We’re Looking For:

Experience supporting young people in a school, youth work, residential or SEN setting (desired but not essential).
Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport quickly.
A calm, proactive and patient approach when responding to challenging behaviours.
Someone reliable, resilient and passionate about making a difference to young people’s lives.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of students.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
