A welcoming and supportive school in Newcastle is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join their team. This Behaviour Mentor role is ideal for someone who is passionate about supporting children and young people with their behaviour, emotional wellbeing and personal development.
The successful Behaviour Mentor will work closely with pupils who may require additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation, engagement and learning. As a Behaviour Mentor, you will build positive and trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a consistent role model and helping them overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities of the Behaviour Mentor:
Providing 1:1 and small group mentoring support to pupils.
Supporting pupils with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement.
Building positive, professional and trusting relationships with pupils.
Promoting positive behaviour and using effective behaviour management strategies.
Supporting pupils to develop confidence, resilience and independence.
Helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and participation.
Using de-escalation techniques and calm, consistent approaches where appropriate.
Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and pastoral staff to implement individual support plans.
Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment.
The Ideal Behaviour Mentor Will:
Have previous experience working with children or young people.
Have experience supporting pupils with behaviours that challenge.
Be confident supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
Be patient, resilient and adaptable in approach.
Have strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills.
Have experience supporting pupils with SEND, SEMH, ASD or ADHD (desirable).
Have excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
Hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to apply).
Have a fully checkable work history.
