Job Description - Behaviour Support Worker

Job Type: Full Time
Job Location: Thurrock
School Setting: Special School
Contract Type: Contract

REF: SENDIRECT/191659
Rate: £110 – £125 per day
Hours: Full time
Start Date: September 2025

Are you a patient and passionate educator ready to support students who need a little extra help navigating their learning journey? We are looking for a Behaviour Support Teacher to join a specialist school in Thurrock from September 2025. This full-time, contract role is a fantastic opportunity to work in a school that prioritises individual development, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.

You’ll be supporting pupils with a range of additional needs—including SEMH, autism, and complex behavioural profiles—by building trust, consistency, and routine into their day. Whether you have previous experience in a behaviour-focused role or you're an empathetic teacher looking to shift into specialist education, this role offers a truly meaningful and rewarding path.

With competitive daily rates, a strong support network, and the chance to play a crucial role in shaping students’ futures, this is a great opportunity for someone who thrives on connection and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver structured lessons focused on personal development, emotional literacy, and core subjects.
  • Support students with behavioural challenges in accessing education.
  • Implement tailored behaviour plans and consistent classroom strategies.
  • Foster positive relationships built on trust, boundaries, and encouragement.
  • Collaborate with SENCOs, therapists, and pastoral teams.
  • Monitor and report on student progress and behaviour.
  • Create a safe, calm, and inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • QTS or relevant teaching/support qualification (desirable).
  • Experience working in SEMH, special school, PRU, or behaviour support settings (preferred).
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • A calm, resilient approach with a deep understanding of trauma-informed practice.
  • Ability to build positive, professional relationships with students and staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being.
  • Flexibility, patience, and a sense of humour.
