Overview

As the Benefits & Payroll Specialist for EMEA and APAC you will play a pivotal role in ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing and benefits administration across Rithum's international entities in Spain, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia. This position requires a strong understanding of international payroll operations and statutory benefits programs, combined with exceptional attention to detail and a high standard of employee experience. You will serve as the regional subject matter expert, collaborating with internal stakeholders including People Operations, Finance, and Legal, as well as external vendors and regulatory agencies to ensure seamless payroll and benefits delivery across all four countries.

Responsibilities

Payroll Operations & Compliance

  • Own end-to-end payroll processing for Spain, United Kingdom, Ireland, and Australia, partnering with local payroll providers and leveraging ADP and Woffu to ensure accurate and timely payroll each cycle

  • Conduct payroll audits and reconciliations to ensure data accuracy, compliance, and integrity across systems

  • Manage statutory payroll filings in accordance with local regulations, including UK HMRC, Spain’s Seguridad Social, Ireland’s PRSA, and Australia’s Superannuation requirements

  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready payroll records, including documentation of processes and controls

Benefits Administration

  • Administer employee benefits programs across all regions, including health, pension/retirement, life insurance, and statutory benefits, ensuring compliance with local requirements

  • Support annual benefits renewals, including coordination with vendors, employee communications, and system updates

  • Manage relationships with local benefits brokers and vendors, serving as the primary operational contact for enrollments, renewals, and issue resolution

Employee Experience & Support

  • Resolve payroll and benefits inquiries from employees and external partners in a timely, accurate, and professional manner

  • Support onboarding and offboarding processes from a payroll and benefits perspective, ensuring accurate setup and timely processing

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Finance on payroll reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close activities

  • Collaborate with People Operations, Legal, and external vendors to ensure seamless payroll and benefits delivery across all regions

Systems, Projects & Continuous Improvement

  • Use AI and automation tools to identify opportunities for improving payroll and benefits processes, increasing efficiency, accuracy, and scalability

  • Contribute to payroll system integrations and enhancements (e.g., ADP–Woffu), providing regional expertise and testing support

  • Support payroll and benefits-related projects, process improvements, and scalability initiatives

  • Stay current on international payroll and employment legislation changes and proactively communicate impacts to relevant stakeholders

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of international payroll and/or benefits administration experience, with direct hands-on experience in at least two of the following countries: Spain, United Kingdom, Ireland, or Australia

  • Working knowledge of statutory payroll and benefits requirements across EMEA and/or APAC markets, with particular depth in Spain given the size of our employee population there

  • Experience working with payroll platforms such as CloudPay or similar; comfortable navigating multiple systems simultaneously

  • Solid understanding of global payroll processes, regulations, and compliance requirements

  • Experience managing payroll audits, reconciliations, and compliance reporting

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and present payroll data clearly

  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with international teams to ensure payroll and benefits accuracy and efficiency

  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of international payroll and benefits experience, with coverage across all four of Rithum's EMEA/APAC regions

  • Spanish language skills — strongly preferred given Spain is our largest international employee population

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, reporting, and calculations

  • Experience supporting benefits program renewals and vendor management internationally

  • Global mindset with cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity

  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion
