Bid Manager

The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Bid Manager to join a well-established and highly respected construction company based in Elgin.
Our client is part of one of the UK's leading family-owned construction, infrastructure and support services businesses, with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality projects across Scotland and the wider UK.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Bid Manager or construction professional with a background in pre-construction, commercial management or design to join a successful and growing business.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the tender and pre-construction process, working closely with estimating, commercial, design and operational teams to secure new projects and ensure a smooth transition from tender through to construction.
Candidates must live within commuting distance of Elgin or be willing to relocate. Please note that sponsorship is not available for this position.
The Role
As Bid Manager, you will be responsible for coordinating and managing bids from the early design and feasibility stages through to tender submission and project handover.
Key responsibilities will include:

Managing pre-construction activities and overseeing the tender process from initial enquiry through to submission.

Preparing tender pricing, budgets and submission documentation.
*
Coordinating estimating, design, commercial and operational teams to ensure bids are completed accurately and on time.
*
Reviewing tender documentation, drawings and specifications to identify project requirements.
*
Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions.
*
Reviewing construction programmes and assessing their impact on project costs and delivery.
*
Preparing tender reports, cost plans and cash flow forecasts.
*
Managing tender correspondence, documentation and submission deadlines.
*
Attending internal and external meetings, tender interviews and client presentations.
*
Working closely with senior management to develop competitive and commercially viable bids.
*
Ensuring contractual risks are identified and the company's commercial position is protected.

Preparing detailed handover information for successful tenders and supporting the transition to operational teams.
About You
We are looking for an organised and commercially aware construction professional with experience in bid management or pre-construction.
The ideal candidate will have:

Previous experience in a Bid Manager, Pre-Construction, Commercial, Design or similar construction role.
*
A strong understanding of construction tendering, estimating and procurement processes.
*
Excellent commercial awareness and the ability to identify and manage project risks.
*
Knowledge of construction contracts, technical requirements and procurement methods.
*
Experience coordinating teams and managing multiple tender deadlines.
*
The ability to build effective working relationships with clients, consultants and internal teams.
*
Must live within commuting distance of Elgin or be prepared to relocate.
*
Must have the right to work in the UK without requiring employer sponsorship.
