Billing Supervisor

Totum Partners is partnering with a leading law firm in Bristol to recruit a Billing Supervisor. This is a great opportunity for a team leader or mentor seeking to advance their career.

The ideal Billing Supervisor will be responsible for:

• Supervise the billing team

• Ensure monthly bills are accurate and on time

• Review and approve all bills

• Make sure VAT, SRA, and AML rules are followed

• Handle complex billing and VAT queries

• Oversee write-offs, transfers, and adjustments

• Work with Accounts on disbursements

• Manage charge rates and support legal teams

• Keep team mailboxes clear and queries actioned

• Run regular team meetings with clear priorities

• Support 1-2-1s, coaching, and reviews

• Help roll out new billing systems and processes

• Keep billing documents and training updated

• Produce regular and one-off billing reports

• Check financial controls and suggest improvements

• Advise legal teams on billing best practice

The ideal Billing Supervisor will have:

• Legal billing experience required, ideally in professional services

• Strong knowledge of SRA Accounts Rules and compliance

• Proficient in Excel – VLOOKUP, pivot tables, SUMIFs

• Works well under pressure with strong attention to detail

• Builds strong relationships and communicates clearly

• Proactive, adaptable, and supports team development
