Job Description - BMS Sales Engineer

Are you an experienced BMS Sales Engineer or Bid Manager?

Are you looking for a hybrid-based role in the Essex area (1 day per week in the office), with a rapidly expanding business?

If so, our Building Services and Smart Building client is keen to hear from you!

As a BMS & Smart Building Sales Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving sales growth, managing client projects, and ensuring the successful implementation of our product solutions.

This role demands a proven technical sales expert with a focus on achieving ambitious sales targets while delivering exceptional customer service. Your role will be crucial in ensuring competitive pricing and successful project bids, contributing to the overall growth and profitability of the company.

You will work closely with the Directors and other key team members to influence stakeholders and cultivate new and existing client relationships.

The Role:

Sales and Business Development:

  • Identify and target potential customers in the BMS sector, including Mechanical & Electrical Companies, AC contractors, Facilities Management (FM) companies, Maintenance service providers, Consultants, and Retailers.
  • Drive the entire sales cycle from prospecting to deal closure, ensuring the achievement of revenue and growth targets.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to meet or exceed sales objectives.

Technical Support, Cost Estimation and Proposal Preparation:

  • Ensure all estimates and proposals are completed in a timely manner to meet bid deadlines, with the support of the technical team.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation to customers, helping them understand the benefits and capabilities of our clients BMS solutions.
  • Conduct site assessments and technical evaluations to determine the best solutions for customer needs.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of customised BMS solutions.

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Act as a point of contact for clients, addressing any technical or sales-related inquiries.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups and reviews with clients to ensure ongoing satisfaction and identify additional sales opportunities.

Collaboration and Teamwork:

  • Work closely with the engineering team to provide customer feedback and support product development and enhancement.
  • Collaborate with the business development and sales teams on strategies and client management.
  • Support the project delivery team throughout the project lifecycle to ensure technical compliance with what has been priced and what is expected from the client. Ensure alignment between sales promises and project execution, addressing any discrepancies promptly to maintain customer satisfaction and project integrity.

Product Knowledge and Training:

  • Maintain a deep understanding of our clients product portfolio, including Distech, Trend, Siemens, Delta, iSMA, Tridium and other BMS solutions including cloud services.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions for clients and partners to ensure they are well-versed in using our BMS products.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and advancements to provide clients with the most current information and solutions.

Reporting and Analysis:

  • Prepare and present regular sales reports, forecasts, and market analysis to the management team.
  • Monitor market conditions, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and growth.

The Person:

  • Proven experience in sales and technical support within the BMS or related industry.
  • Technical knowledge of Building Management Systems, HVAC systems, and related technologies.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Results-driven with a focus on achieving sales targets and delivering customer value.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Located within a commutable distance of Basildon (1-1.5 hours) - working 1 day per week in the office

Working Relationships:

  • Report to the Commercial Director and collaborate with the wider sales and engineering teams.
  • Work closely with the Directors in developing relationships with client acquisition and sales initiatives.
  • Partner with the engineering team for technical support and product development

Our client is offering a basic salary of £70,000 - £75,000 plus car allowance, there is also the genuine opportunity for equity in the business.
