Location: Wapping Marine Workshop, London
Salary: £46,985 starting salary, rising to £49,670
Full-time | Permanent

SLR Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Boat Builder to join a specialist marine team based at Wapping Marine Workshop in London.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a unique fleet of operational vessels supporting the Metropolitan Police Marine Policing Unit.

You’ll be working on a wide variety of vessels, including RHIBs, Targa patrol vessels, jet-powered craft and other specialist marine assets, with no two days necessarily being the same.

The Role

* GRP repairs and structural reconstruction

* Vessel modifications and upgrades

* General boat building and maintenance

* Hull repairs and inspections

* Supporting vessel enhancement and fleet development projects

* Quality assurance inspections

* Assisting with sea trials and testing

* Working to relevant marine and safety standards

* Working as part of a close-knit specialist marine team

About You

We’re looking for someone with solid boat building / marine engineering experience who takes pride in producing high-quality workmanship.

* GRP / composite repairs

* Structural boat building and repairs

* Vessel maintenance and modifications

* Marine construction or outfitting

* Reading technical drawings

* Working with specialist marine tools and equipment

Most importantly, you’ll be practical, reliable and confident working as part of a team, with a genuine interest in marine engineering and boat building.

Salary & Benefits

Starting salary: £46,985, made up of:

* £43,976 basic salary

* £2,009 location allowance

* £1,000 non-pensionable allowance

The basic salary will increase annually up to £49,670.

The workshop is a dedicated marine maintenance facility supporting the Marine Policing Unit and carries out vessel maintenance, structural repairs, modifications, inspections and fleet support.
