Job Description - Bookkeeper

Bootle
Full-Time – Office Based
£28,000 - £35,000

We are looking for a proactive, detail-oriented Bookkeeper to join our team on a full-time, office-based basis in Bootle. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with solid experience in managing day-to-day financial operations and supporting year-end processes.
Responsibilities

Maintain accurate financial records and transaction logs
Manage invoicing and customer/supplier accounts
Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC deadlines
Oversee cash flow monitoring and reporting
Support with year-end accounts preparation
Liaise with accountants and ensure records are audit-ready
Maintain proactive communication with clients, suppliers, and internal teams
Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations

Requirements

Proven experience in a similar bookkeeping or finance role
Strong working knowledge of bookkeeping software
Solid understanding of VAT, cash flows, and basic accounting principles
High attention to detail and excellent organisational skills
Ability to work independently and take initiative
AAT qualification (or equivalent) preferred but not essential
