Bookkeeper

A well-established and respected independent company, based in Edinburgh, is seeking a Finance Assistant to join their small, friendly team on a part-time basis.

This is a varied and hands-on finance role, ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail and a proactive approach. The Finance Assistant will support the finance function across both businesses, handling day-to-day financial operations and contributing to wider administrative tasks.

Candidate Duties:

• Processing and maintaining sales and purchase ledger invoices
• Credit control
• Banking and cashflow maintenance, including monthly bank reconciliations
• Assisting with quarterly VAT returns
• Supporting the preparation of annual accounts and tax returns
• Event cash handling and reconciliation
• Assisting with royalties administration
• Project costing and review
• Administering wholesale operations
• Processing and analysing expenses

• Acting as the first point of contact for finance queries
• Maintaining accounting records and files
• Handling incoming and outgoing mail
• Document scanning and copying
• Providing general support to the finance team

Key Skills and Experience

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
• Basic accounting knowledge and ability to interpret financial data
• Excellent organisational and prioritisation skills
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience working in a small team environment
