The Role
As Bookkeeper, you'll take responsibility for delivering accurate bookkeeping and VAT services across a diverse portfolio of clients. Working closely with the wider accounts team, you'll ensure client records are maintained to a high standard, helping to support the smooth delivery of year-end accounts and wider accounting services.
There is also the opportunity to develop your experience in accounts preparation if this is an area you'd like to explore.

Process purchase and sales invoices, bank transactions and journals through to trial balance. Prepare, review and submit VAT returns across a range of VAT schemes. Reconcile bank and control accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies. Maintain accurate financial records using cloud accounting software, including Xero and QuickBooks. Act as a first point of contact for bookkeeping and VAT-related client queries. Ensure client records are complete, accurate and ready for year-end accounts preparation. Help maintain and improve bookkeeping processes across the practice. Build strong relationships with clients while delivering a high standard of service. About You
You'll be an organised and detail-oriented Bookkeeper who enjoys working with a varied client base and takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work.
Essential
Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice. Confident completing bookkeeping through to trial balance. Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns. Strong understanding of double-entry bookkeeping principles. Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero and/or QuickBooks. Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills. Strong communication skills with the ability to build positive client relationships. Desirable
AAT qualified, part-qualified or qualified by experience. Experience working with a range of VAT schemes, including Flat Rate, Margin and Partial Exemption. Experience supporting accounts preparation.
