Job Description - Bookkeeper

Part-time: around 15 hours per week, ideally across three days in the office.

Based in Eynsham near Witney (OX29)

Salary open to discussion, depending on experience

Are you an experienced bookkeeper who’s confident preparing VAT returns and management accounts? We’re looking for someone to join an innovative engineering and technology company near Witney. This is a hands-on, part-time role with responsibility for keeping the day-to-day finances running smoothly.

About the Role

You’ll take ownership of the bookkeeping in Xero and help the team keep a clear picture of the company’s finances. Your responsibilities will include:

Processing bills, invoices and payments, and completing bank reconciliations

Preparing and filing VAT returns, including those involving reverse charge VAT

Producing monthly management accounts, including prepayment and accrual journals

Supporting the month-end close and maintaining accurate financial records

Helping with credit control, purchase orders and supplier queries

Updating reports and spreadsheets to help track budgets, project spending and cash flow

There may also be an opportunity to help with financial modelling and forecasting if this is something you have experience in, but it isn’t essential to the role.

About You

This role would suit an experienced bookkeeper who is comfortable managing the monthly accounts independently. You’ll be:

Confident preparing and filing VAT returns, including reverse charge VAT

Experienced in producing management accounts and posting prepayments and accruals

Accurate, organised and comfortable taking ownership of your work

Confident using accounting software and spreadsheets; experience with Xero would be particularly useful

Happy working as part of a small team and answering finance queries as they arise

A formal accounting qualification would be welcome, but relevant practical experience is more important.
