Job Description - Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant

We're delighted to be recruiting a full-time or part-time Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant on behalf of a well-established, family-owned accountancy practice based in Market Harborough. This exciting Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant vacancy offers the opportunity to join a friendly and supportive team, working with a diverse portfolio of clients across a range of sectors. The successful candidate will become part of a respected practice that values long-term client relationships, professional development and the delivery of an excellent service.

£28,000 - £32,000 dependent upon experience (pro-rata for part-time)

Monday to Thursday 9:00am to 4:45pm, Friday 9:00am to 4:00pm

33-hour working week with a 30-minute lunch break

Part-time applications considered with a minimum of 25 hours per week

25 days annual leave plus bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time)

Duties and responsibilities

Managing bookkeeping and VAT work for a varied client portfolio

Assisting with the preparation of accounts

Supporting the preparation of self-assessment and corporation tax returns

Carrying out general compliance and administrative accounting duties

Acting as a key point of contact for clients and responding to queries in a professional manner

Liaising with HM Revenue & Customs on behalf of clients

Maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring work is completed to a high standard

Required skills and experience

Previous experience in an accounting, bookkeeping role preferably within practice

AAT qualified or currently studying towards an AAT qualification

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office applications

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to manage workload effectively and work independently when required

Strong organisational skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail

Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and build positive client relationships
