A well-established and forward-thinking accountancy firm in Colchester is looking for an experienced Bookkeeper to join their growing team. This is a full-time hybrid role, offering up to 2 days per week working from home.

?? About the Role

As a bookkeeper, you’ll take ownership of your own client portfolio, ensuring accurate financial records are maintained and VAT returns are submitted on time. Regular client interaction is key to this role — you’ll be building trusted relationships and acting as a day-to-day point of contact.

? Key Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping for a range of clients
• Prepare and submit VAT returns
• Reconcile accounts and process financial transactions
• Maintain accurate records using Xero, QuickBooks, and Dext
• Liaise with clients to resolve queries and provide ongoing support

?? About You

• Minimum 2 years of bookkeeping experience, ideally in a practice setting
• Confident using cloud-based accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Dext)
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Able to work independently and as part of a supportive team
• A relevant qualification (e.g. AAT) is a plus, but not essential
