Optometrist – Two Days Per Week

BlackSquare is recruiting a GOC-registered Optometrist for an established optical practice in Buxton.

This opportunity offers the best of both worlds: the systems, technology, training and resources associated with a large optical organisation, combined with the friendly atmosphere and local decision-making of an independently operated practice.

The role is available for two fixed days each week: Friday and Saturday, making it ideal for an Optometrist looking for a secure part-time position, additional days alongside another role, or a better work-life balance.

The Role

You will work within a supportive and experienced practice team, providing high-quality eye care to an established local patient base.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Conducting comprehensive eye examinations


• Assessing and managing patients’ visual and ocular-health needs


• Making clear, patient-focused clinical recommendations


• Providing contact lens appointments and aftercare where appropriate


• Using modern diagnostic and testing equipment


• Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records


• Working closely with dispensing and support colleagues


• Supporting a smooth and professional patient journey


• Building trusted, long-term relationships with patients


• Maintaining GOC standards and completing relevant CPD

About You

You will need:

• Current GOC registration as a qualified Optometrist


• A recognised Optometry degree or equivalent qualification


• Strong clinical and communication skills


• A professional, friendly and patient-centred approach


• The ability to work effectively within a close-knit team


• A commitment to delivering consistently high standards of care


• Availability to work Fridays and Saturdays
