TeacherActive is currently recruiting a British Sign Language (BSL) Learning Support Assistant to work within a welcoming and inclusive school in Aberystwyth.

This is a rewarding opportunity to support a pupil with hearing impairment, helping them access the curriculum, build confidence, and thrive both academically and socially. The Role

Provide dedicated one-to-one support for a deaf or hearing-impaired pupil
Use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication throughout the school day
Support pupils in accessing lessons and participating in classroom activities
Work closely with teachers and the wider SEN/ALN team to deliver tailored support
Encourage independence, confidence, and social development
Help create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment

Requirements

✅ BSL qualification or proven competency in British Sign Language (Level 2 or above desirable)
✅ Previous experience working with children or young people 
✅ Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) or Additional Learning Needs (ALN) is advantageous
✅ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
✅ A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach
✅ Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
