Job Description - Build Manager

Build Manager

Wellingborough

Hours - Mon to Fri 0800-1600 (flexibility required)

Salary - circa £50k plus car allowance/mileage and bonus

Our client based in Wellingborough is recruiting a Build Manager on a permanent basis to be responsible for delivering consistently high standards across all project installations. This involves evaluating project-specific requirements and implementing the most effective resourcing and logistical strategies to ensure seamless delivery. The role combines operational planning, supplier development, quality assurance, and hands-on supervision—both on-site and remotely. The Build Manager will be pivotal in mitigating risks, optimising margin (without compromising safety or quality), and driving installation excellence through smart scheduling, on-boarding of new resources, and the continuous improvement of processes, tools, and working methods.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess build and logistics needs for each project and allocate appropriate resources.
  • Schedule build crews and logistics to align with project timelines and budgets.
  • Develop and maintain a flexible, high-performing pool of build professionals through recruitment, vetting, training, and performance review.
  • Provide cost estimates and guidance at the quotation and pitch stages.
  • Act as site lead during complex or large installations, ensuring quality, health & safety, and brand standards are maintained.
  • Collaborate with design, project management, and product development teams to continually improve installation outcomes.
  • Monitor and enhance build methods, tools, and processes to optimise capacity and consistency.
  • Maintain and enhance scheduling tools in collaboration with IT and operational colleagues.
  • Handle procurement and financial admin related to installations.
  • Oversee client sign-off processes and conduct post-installation reviews.
  • Manage the Client Satisfaction Survey process, reporting insights and trends to key stakeholders.
Scope & Impact
  • Direct responsibility for the planning, quality, and execution of all company installations.
  • Key contributor to company reputation, client satisfaction, and commercial success.
  • Frequent travel required within the UK and occasionally overseas, including overnight stays.
  • Role requires hands-on leadership both at HQ and on-site, especially during peak periods.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Strong scheduling and resource management capabilities.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Confident interpreting and executing from technical drawings.
  • Practical, hands-on mindset with a focus on delivering quality.
  • Commercial awareness to support cost-effective project planning.
  • Ability to remain calm and accurate under pressure.
  • Strong team orientation with the capability to work independently.
  • Effective communication and rapport-building skills.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in events, exhibitions, or similar logistics-heavy industries.
  • Manual handling and working at height training.
  • Experience in client-facing or supervisory roles on-site.
  • Experience in developing or implementing operational processes or build methods.
