Business Accountant

Led by a high calibre management team they have ambitious plans to drive the business towards £30m turnover and are in the midst of a transformational plan to reduce operational costs, drive sales and improve margin. As a result of this they have identified the need to strengthen the finance department by recruiting a Business Accountant. The role requires someone with a strong background as a Management Accountant / Analyst who can also operate as a Finance Business Partner to drive improvement in systems and analysis.

The role will report into the Financial Controller and will offer regular exposure to the CFO and the board, you will be responsible for producing the monthly management accounts along with daily management information and analysis across the business. The position requires someone adept at working with different business systems who can offer financial and commercial support across all departments to aid decision making. The main responsibilities will be:

• Producing monthly management accounts with commentary and analysis
• Assisting with the production of budgets and forecasts
• Supporting the FC with management of cash and working capital
• Providing variance analysis along with performance reporting
• Producing KPI information for internal and external stakeholders
• Developing daily reporting information to suit business needs
• Providing financial support to commercial quoting / tendering
• Liaising with auditors and preparation of statutory accounts
• Ensuring financial controls and continuous improvement processes are in place

Central to this role will be the need to provide high quality information in a timely and accurate fashion which will involve working closely with the systems and commercial teams to develop reports and processes. This will be a great role for someone with excellent IT / systems skills who wants to play a key part in driving a business forward as they go through an exciting period of growth.

The ideal candidate must therefore have a strong knowledge of management accounts and month end processes with commercial awareness and great communication skills. Preferably CIMA or ACCA qualified although strong part qual / finalists with the right sort of experience will also be considered.
