We’re looking for a sharp, proactive Business Affairs Manager to join our London office the central hub serving Apple’s European, Middle East, and Turkey markets. You’ll be joining a busy, Business Affairs team of 11 people, reporting directly to the Regional Business Affairs Director. In this role, you’ll work closely with Account Management, Creative, and Production teams on a daily basis, as well as collaborating seamlessly with your Business Affairs counterparts in Los Angeles and around the globe.
The Business Affairs Manager is a crucial player in managing risk around advertising content, including legal, regulatory, and rights & relationship management. This role requires constant interaction and coordination across multiple teams and markets to ensure everything runs smoothly.
This position is ideal for a self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, creative environment, with impeccable attention to detail and the ability to proactively guide projects through their lifecycle. You’ll also be responsible for managing Associates on a per-project basis, helping to lead the team’s efforts with confidence and clarity.
The Work
- BA project lead, building and maintaining effective working relationships with Account, Planning, Creative, Production, Security, Finance and the global Business Affairs network.
- Concept, script, storyboard and edit review for 11+ markets.
- Engage external legal counsel in each market. Digest, challenge and summarise feedback.
- Negotiate and contract a wide range of deals; e.g. talent, music, photographer, illustrator etc.
- Manage key partner, endorser, influencer and rights-holder relationships.
- Work alongside agency Producers & BA Director to prepare the BA-related elements of a production including production agreements, insurance implementation, location clearance etc.
- Lead GDPR compliance on assigned productions (including DPIAs, DPAs, Privacy Policies, track retention requirements, etc).
- Shoot and post-production attendance, providing on-the ground advice and support.
- Manage advertising censorship submissions and regulatory requirements across the region.
- Legal line development across EMEA + liaising with LA counterparts on rationale, language etc.
- Monitor compliance with client and agency procedures and policies with vendors, talent, and third parties. Ensure best industry practices are adhered to.
Who will thrive in this role?
- Proven experience of the Business Affairs/Production function, including as a BA project lead on commissioned content.
- Advertising legal and regulatory experience in the UK and at least one other of the following markets: France, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Italy, Poland, Czechia, UAE, KSA, Turkey.
- Excellent understanding of rights management and IP, including negotiations and contracting.
- A strong verbal and written communicator, who can, over time, find the right balance of knowing when to over communicate vs. when to keep things concise.
- Meticulous attention to detail and a drive for excellence in delivery.
