  • Salary: to £50,000 base, OTE £65,000 (per annum)
  • Base: London office/Hybrid  - We are looking for someone who lives within commutable distance of our London office

Job Purpose

The Business Development Consultant plays a critical role in driving sustainable revenue growth for Inclusive Employers through proactive outbound business development, market engagement and pipeline creation.

This is a pure-new business role focused entirely on identifying prospects, generating opportunities, qualifying needs, and converting them into clients across Inclusive Employers’ services: membership, training, consultancy and accreditation standard.

The postholder will act as a trusted commercial partner to prospective clients, positioning Inclusive Employers’ products and services and guiding organisations at different stages of their inclusion journey.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Pipeline Growth (Outbound Focus)

  • Proactively generate new business opportunities through outbound activity, including prospecting, networking, referrals, campaigns and relationship-led selling.
  • Build, manage and grow a robust sales pipeline across all Inclusive Employers revenue streams, including membership, training and consultancy.
  • Nurture opportunities through the full sales cycle, from initial engagement and needs diagnosis through proposal, negotiation and close.
  • Meet or exceed agreed sales, pipeline and revenue targets, demonstrating consistent quarter-on-quarter growth.
  • Identify and develop opportunities within specific sectors or markets to support strategic growth.
  • Collaborate with marketing colleagues on aligned campaigns that drive awareness, pipeline and conversion.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data and forecasting using CRM systems, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Relationship Building and Representation

  • Build strong internal relationships, working collaboratively with consultancy, training, marketing and product colleagues to deliver joined-up solutions.
  • Represent Inclusive Employers externally through networking, events, conferences and online platforms such as LinkedIn.
  • Contribute to the organisation’s profile as a trusted, credible and forward-thinking partner in inclusion and diversity.

Consultancy Proposals and Solution Development

  • Develop, write and present high-quality consultancy proposals aligned to client needs, drawing on Inclusive Employers’ full product and service offer.
  • Translate client briefs into clear, commercially viable proposals that articulate scope, outcomes, methodology, timelines and value.
  • Work collaboratively with consultancy and delivery colleagues to shape solutions that are credible, impactful and deliverable.
  • Contribute inclusion expertise, market insight and practical recommendations to proposals, ensuring they reflect current best practice and emerging trends.
  • Support proposal refinement through dialogue with prospective clients, responding confidently to questions, challenges and feedback.
  • Ensure proposals are professional, accurate and tailored to senior stakeholders, with strong attention to detail.

Market Insight and Continuous Improvement

·       Monitor emerging trends, legislative developments and sector movements to support product positioning and sales strategy.

·       Share insights to support innovation, continuous improvement and organisation‑wide learning.

·       Contribute to thought leadership activity where appropriate.

Person Specification

We are looking for a driven, motivated, commercially minded professional who is energised by identifying and nurturing opportunities, being accountable for their KPI’s, building relationships and delivering results.  We also want someone who genuinely cares about what we do and the impact we want to have.

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience in a business development, sales or commercial role, with a strong outbound focus and hunter mentality.
  • Experience and understanding of sales methodologies e.g. BANT, Challenger &Miller Heiman
  • Demonstrable ability to build, manage and close a healthy sales pipeline.
  • Experience of selling HR training, consultancy and/or technology solutions.
  • Understanding of the HR buyer process and ability to engage and influence at C‑Suite level.
  • Strong commercial awareness and confidence in discussing value, impact and return on investment.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Experience using CRM systems, (HubSpot a bonus) with an evidenced history of working to KPIs and targets.
  • An interest, and a passion for what we do!  Alignment with Inclusive Employers’ values and commitment to inclusion and equity.

Desirable Criteria

  • In depth knowledge of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) concepts, terminology and emerging trends.
  • Experience in working within either the Financial Services, Energy, Pharma or Professional Services sector/s.
