Are you a proactive sales professional who thrives on building customer relationships and generating new business opportunities?

We're looking for an ambitious Business Development Executive to join a growing commercial team. This is far more than a traditional sales support role. You'll play a key part in driving pipeline growth, converting enquiries into opportunities, and identifying new business potential across an established customer base. Experience within life sciences would be advantageous, but is certainly not essential.

You'll work closely with the wider commercial team to develop new opportunities and support business growth. You'll be responsible for qualifying leads, following up quotations, nurturing customer relationships, and proactively engaging with prospects to identify sales opportunities.

Your ability to build rapport, understand customer needs, and confidently progress opportunities will be fundamental to your success.

Key Responsibilities

Respond to and qualify incoming enquiries
Generate and develop new business opportunities
Follow up quotations and progress sales opportunities through the pipeline
Proactively contact customers to identify requirements and uncover opportunities
Build strong relationships with existing and prospective customers
Maintain accurate records of sales activity within the CRM system
Work collaboratively with colleagues to maximise commercial opportunities
Identify opportunities for cross-selling and upselling products and services

Essential Skills & Experience

Previous experience in an Internal Sales, Sales Support, Business Development or similar commercial role
Proven lead generation and opportunity qualification experience
Strong customer relationship-building skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A proactive, self-motivated approach with a strong commercial mindset
Experience using CRM systems to manage sales activity
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Comfortable working as part of a collaborative sales teamYou'll be naturally curious, commercially driven, and enjoy engaging with customers to uncover opportunities. You'll be confident making proactive outbound calls, resilient when facing challenges, and motivated by achieving results.

Most importantly, you'll take ownership of your pipeline, work collaboratively with colleagues, and have the drive to contribute to ongoing business growth.
