Job Description - Business Development Manager

Business Development Manager – Technical Sales ?? Location: Hybrid – Milton Keynes 2x/week + UK-wide travel
?? Salary: £55,000 + 20% Bonus + Car Allowance or Company Car
?? Industry: Process Equipment / Engineering Solutions

We are a global leader in the design and manufacture of special purpose machinery and process equipment for a variety of industries including chemical, pharmaceutical, dairy, food, beverage, oil & gas and many more. With a robust order book and new product launches in the pipeline, we are looking to appoint a Business Development Manager to drive commercial growth and long-term client partnerships across the UK.

What You’ll Be Doing:
  • Develop and execute go-to-market and account growth strategies with senior leadership

  • Identify, research, and qualify new leads using market intelligence tools and platforms

  • Conduct strategic outreach and support early-stage customer engagement

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (sales, marketing, customer success) to optimise conversion and retention

  • Report on sales pipeline activity, lead quality, and market insights to inform business planning

  • Support account segmentation, customer health tracking, and upsell/cross-sell strategies

What We’re Looking For:
  • Strong technical/mechanical engineering background (not necessarily in machinery)

  • 5+ years' experience in business development, technical sales, or a related role

  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate market data into actionable plans

  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Proficient in CRM systems, Microsoft Office, and market research platforms

  • Must be commutable to Milton Keynes 2x per week and flexible to travel for customer visits
