Job Description - Business Development Manager

Reed Sales & Marketing are exceptionally excited to be representing a nationally established electrical manufacturer in their search for a Business Development Manager.

Based in Sheffield, this is an exceptional opportunity for a candidate with a varied technical background to increase their earning potentials and step into a career that rewards experience and hard work.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • To develop a broad understanding of our top 15 accounts that are global corporates with multiple sites and complex structures, create a solid map of their matrix.
  • To contact and develop solid relationships with key personnel.
  • Opening new channels inside customer’s organisation through research and networking for our products and services
  • To win new business with new accounts according to our sales strategy (3-yrs plan) in the various sectors.
  • Identifying customer opportunities to deliver Business Development and growth to the Sheffield site and prospects for the wider PBA site through collaborative cross selling.
  • With clear lines of communication in place with the UK Sales Office Manager; maintain regular, frequent contact with designated major and prospective customers and specifically with strategically important key personnel and decision makers within those accounts.
  • Collaborate and contribute to Marketing strategies and activities to identify new opportunities, conducting high quality research and preparing dedicated customer presentation materials.
  • Negotiate commercially driven orders with a focus on margin and strategic alignment with company KPI’s.
  • Prepare Business Development Reports for Internal QBR meetings / for Board Level reports, with any assigned accounts, and present applicable updated KPI metrics.
  • On an annual basis, achieve or exceed agreed sales targets as set by the business.
  • Maintain records of active customer accounts (contacts, opportunities, visit reports and account plans) using SharePoint system.
  • Analyse success of Business Development pipeline opportunities, including lessons learnt on unsuccessful opportunities with the aim of continuous improvement and sharing intelligence with the wider Sales and Engineering organisations.
  • Feedback on information on changing customer requirements and recommend course of action to Technical & Operations Director.
  • Report Competition activities e.g. new products, price strategies, personnel movements etc.
  • Represent client at Trade Shows, showcasing product and solutions portfolio.
  • Work closely with the sales team to ensure quotations are on time and followed up at all stages of the sales process.
