Business Development Manager

£50,000 + car allowance and bonus

Overview:

This is a major international transport and logistics business delivering reliable road freight solutions across the UK and Europe. They are now looking for an ambitious Business Development Manager to win new business and build their road freight offering.

This is a new business-focused position. You will spend most of your time finding, pitching and winning new customers for UK and European road freight services, while also growing a portfolio of existing accounts.

Key responsibilities:

* Generate new business for UK and European road freight, including LCL, FTL and groupage.

* Self-generate leads through networking, cold calling, social selling, referrals and market research

* Build and manage a strong pipeline from first contact through to closed deal

* Prepare tailored quotes, tenders and proposals in conjunction with the operations and pricing teams

* Manage and grow existing accounts, identifying opportunities to increase volume and add services

* Develop long-term relationships with customers, building trust and repeat business

* Maintain accurate pipeline and activity records in the CRM

* Work with operations and customer service teams so that customer commitments are delivered

About you:

* Proven background in selling road freight services, with a track record of winning new business.

* Strong knowledge of UK and European road freight, including LCL, FTL and groupage.

* Comfortable with cold outreach and self-generating your own leads.

* Confident communicator with strong negotiation and relationship-building skills.

* Commercially minded, with a good understanding of pricing, margins and customer needs.

* Organised and self-motivated, able to manage your own pipeline and priorities.

* Proficient with CRM systems
