Location: Manchester / Hybrid Salary: Up to £100,000 Basic (DOE) Commission Structure / Car Allowance /Benefits Sector: Freight Forwarding / Multimodal Logistics
About the Role:
A key client of mine and BIG player in the industry is seeking an experienced and results-driven Business Development Manager to join their growing team.
This role is focused on driving revenue growth by acquiring new clients and expanding existing business across Air, Road & Sea Freight, and Customs Services. With a strong reputation and experience within Multimodal Logistics, they’re looking for someone who can bring strategic insight, commercial acumen, and a passion for delivering tailored logistics solutions that exceed customer expectations and ideally contacts / clients with them into the business / new role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Identify and pursue new business opportunities across air, sea, road freight, and customs services.
* Develop and execute strategic sales plans to meet and exceed revenue targets.
* Build and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, ensuring high levels of satisfaction and retention.
* Collaborate with internal operational teams to deliver seamless logistics solutions.
* Conduct market research to stay ahead of trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.
* Prepare and deliver customised sales presentations and proposals.
* Negotiate contracts, rates, and service agreements with clients.
* Provide accurate sales forecasts, performance updates, and reports to senior management.
Key Requirements:
* Proven track record in business development or sales within the freight forwarding/logistics sector.
* In-depth knowledge of multimodal logistics, with a strong focus on air and sea freight.
* Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
* Strong relationship-building ability with clients and stakeholders at all levels.
* Target-driven with a demonstrable history of achieving and exceeding KPIs.
* Proficient in CRM systems and the Microsoft Office Suite.
* Able to work independently and thrive in a collaborative team environment.
* Leadership: Ready to step in from day one.
* Communication: Excellent spoken and written English; able to deal confidently with customers and suppliers.
