Job Description - Business Development Representative

The Opportunity:
Nigel Wright Group are supporting a growing Newcastle-based tech business in their search for a Business Development Representative. The company build SaaS solutions for enterprise-level organisations, working with many large household names and having recently acquired investment, they're looking to expand. The BDR role is perfect for someone with the right mindset and potential to grow who may be early in their career or looking to make a move into tech sales.

Role Profile:
As a Business Development Representative, you’ll be at the forefront of the company’s growth. Your mission? Start meaningful conversations with potential customers and uncover opportunities for the sales team to close. This is a role where your ideas, energy, and initiative will be valued and rewarded.

• You will be researching and identifying potential prospects where you feel the company can add value.
• Whether it’s via phone, email, LinkedIn, or something creative, you’ll be reaching out to people and sparking interest in what the client has to offer.
• You’ll help potential customers understand how you can solve real communication challenges in the workplace.
• Qualifying leads and booking discovery calls for the sales team to progress and close the sale.
• You’ll collaborate with marketing to follow up on inbound leads and share campaign feedback.
• Reporting directly to the Head of Business Development, you’ll be part of a team who want to see you succeed.

Person Specification:
The client isn’t expecting years of experience, they are looking for someone with the right mindset and potential to grow. You might be a recent grad, early in your career, or looking to make a move into tech sales.

• A great communicator; clear, friendly, and confident when speaking or writing.
• You enjoy connecting with people and building relationships.
• You’re naturally curious and love asking thoughtful questions to understand things better.
• You’re creative and proactive and like trying new things and stepping outside your comfort zone.
• You’re organised and self-motivated, with a good sense of how to manage your time.
• You’re always looking to learn, improve, and grow and you take feedback well and enjoy developing your skills.

Desirable points (but not deal-breakers!)

• You’ve had some experience in B2B sales or lead generation.
• You’re familiar with tools like CRMs or prospecting platforms.
