Business Support Officer

6 months Contract with a Local Authority

Job Purpose

As a Business Support Officer, you will provide a comprehensive, professional, and customer-focused business support service to Housing Needs and Temporary Accommodation teams. You will support operational delivery through administration, data management, finance processing, case management support, and maintaining accurate records to ensure statutory and service requirements are met.

Key Duties/Accountabilities

• Provide comprehensive business support across the service.
  
  


• Manage shared mailboxes and correspondence.
  
  


• Process finance-related transactions and administrative requests.
  
  


• Input, maintain, archive, and manage data and records.
  
  


• Arrange meetings, appointments, and team activities.
  
  


• Support case management processes and maintain accurate records.
  
  


• Take notes and provide administrative support at meetings when required.
  
  


• Maintain and update databases, spreadsheets, and IT systems.
  
  


• Produce reports and management information.
  
  


• Ensure records are accurate for statutory returns and local datasets.
  
  


• Work flexibly across services to support operational priorities.
  
  


• Manage a demanding workload while meeting deadlines and service standards.
  
  


• Assist with process improvement and service development initiatives.
  
  


• Support colleagues, customers, service users, and external stakeholders.
  
  


• Ensure confidentiality and compliance with data protection requirements.
  
  

Essential Experience Required

• Previous experience in a Business Support, Administrative, or Office Support role.
  
  


• Experience operating office systems and administrative processes.
  
  


• Experience maintaining spreadsheets, databases, and electronic records.
  
  


• Experience working in a fast-paced customer-focused environment.
  
  


• Experience managing competing priorities and deadlines.
  
  


• Experience producing reports and handling data accurately.
  
  


• Experience providing support to teams and service users.
  
  


• Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.
  
  


• Strong organisational and time management skills.
  
  


• Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
  
  


• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  
  

Essential Qualifications Required

• Educated to A-Level standard or able to demonstrate equivalent relevant experience.
  
  


• Right to Work in the UK.
  
  


• Enhanced DBS.
  
  

Additional Information to Note

• Working hours: 35 hours per week.
  
  


• Location: Temporary Accommodation Service, Lambeth.
  
  


• Office-based role.
  
  


• 5 days per week in the office.
  
  


• Reason for Hire: Restructure / Organisational Redesign Pending.
  
  


• Online interview via Microsoft Teams.

• Enhanced DBS required.
