Job Description - Buyer

Are you an experienced Buyer looking for a new challenge in a respected and long-standing business?

Consortium Professional Recruitment is proud to be partnering on a retained basis with a well-established and highly respected business within their industry to recruit a Buyer for a brand-new position. This is a fantastic opportunity to make your mark, playing a key role in shaping the procurement function from the ground up.

The Role:

As Buyer, you will be instrumental in centralising supplier management across the business. You will take ownership of purchasing activities, driving continuous improvements across cost, quality, service, and supplier performance. This role will also involve identifying new product ranges and developing strategic supplier partnerships to support business growth and innovation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage supplier relationships to ensure optimal performance in terms of cost, quality, delivery, and service.
  • Implement a centralised approach to purchasing across the business.
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Source new suppliers and product ranges aligned with business objectives.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing to maximise value.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders, including operations and senior management teams.
  • Monitor supplier KPIs and conduct performance reviews.
About You:
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a purchasing or procurement role.
  • Background in electrical, mechanical or building products is highly desirable.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Commercially astute with a strategic mindset.
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work independently to drive change.
