Job Description - Buyer

REED Procurement are working with a leading technical manufacturing company based in Bridgend, dedicated to delivering high-quality products to their clients. They pride themselves on innovation, precision, and excellence in everything they do.

Job Overview: They are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing procurement activities, ensuring timely delivery of materials, and maintaining optimal inventory levels. This role requires a proactive individual who can work to tight deadlines and is proficient in using Excel on a daily basis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Source and procure materials, components, and services required for production.
  • Negotiate contracts and terms with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement.
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage stock to prevent shortages or excess.
  • Collaborate with production and engineering teams to understand material requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and supplier performance.
  • Prepare and analyse reports using Excel to track procurement metrics and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
  • Resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing with suppliers.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as a Buyer or in a similar procurement role, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel, including the ability to create and manage complex spreadsheets.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of procurement processes and best practices.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems is a plus.
