Are you an experienced Buyer with a proactive mindset and strong negotiation skills? This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-established manufacturing business in Salisbury, supporting their operational and strategic procurement needs. The role offers scope to grow into a more autonomous position, with succession planning and future development at its core.

As a Buyer, you’ll be responsible for sourcing goods and services, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery while maintaining quality and compliance standards. Working closely with internal teams and suppliers, you’ll manage the full procurement cycle—from order placement to performance evaluation—while contributing to process improvement and supplier management.

This role would suit a dynamic and detail-focused Buyer with strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and the confidence to take ownership. Working hours are Monday to Friday, 8.30 - 5.30 with a 4.30 finish on Friday, salary is £27475 with a benefits package that includes training and development opportunities, collaborative team culture and the chance to contribute meaningfully to long-term purchasing strategy.

Key Responsibilities

• Raise and process purchase orders in line with operational needs

• Source suppliers, negotiate contracts, and maintain vendor relationships

• Monitor delivery timelines and chase overdue items

• Resolve supply issues, shortages, and quality problems

• Track and report on supplier performance and purchasing KPIs

• Identify cost-saving opportunities and contribute to strategic procurement planning

• Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures

• Liaise across departments to support smooth project execution

Key Requirements

• Previous experience in a purchasing or buying role (manufacturing sector preferred)

• Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and analytical skills

• Able to manage time effectively and prioritise under pressure

• Computer literate, with good knowledge of Microsoft Office

• Confident communicator with the ability to build supplier relationships

• Self-motivated, decisive, and enthusiastic about professional growth
