Buyer

We are supporting a leading technology manufacturer in their search for a Buyer to join their growing supply chain team. This is a full-time, permanent position based at their Cambridge site, offering excellent long-term career development within a fast-paced and innovative electronics environment.

As Buyer, you will take ownership of supplier accounts, manage material schedules to support customer demand, and play a key role in new product introductions. You’ll work closely with the Senior Buyer to deliver supply chain efficiency and resilience while driving cost savings and continuous improvement across a global supplier base.

This is an ideal opportunity for a commercially minded supply chain professional looking to build on their experience in electronics or telecoms manufacturing.

Core responsibilities include:

• Managing key supplier relationships and material scheduling
  
  
• Supporting NPI activity and coordinating supply chain readiness for new products
  
  
• Identifying and sourcing components, including alternatives for obsolete items
  
  
• Negotiating contracts and driving cost reductions
  
  
• Monitoring supplier performance and supporting lean inventory practices
  
  
• Developing and improving the international supply base
  
  
• Tracking market trends and supporting total cost of acquisition analysis
  
  
• Processing purchase orders and ensuring on-time material availability
  
  

About you:

• Level 3 CIPS Advanced Certificate (or working towards)
  
  
• Background in supply chain or procurement within electronics or telecoms
  
  
• Experience with off-shore contract manufacturers and global sourcing
  
  
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills
  
  
• Effective communicator with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels
  
  
• Highly organised with strong time and priority management skills
  
  
• Full UK driving licence required – some international travel involved
