Location: Office based role in Bootle, Liverpool

Procter Street are resourcing on behalf of a leading civil engineering contractor operating across the highways sector and are seeking to appoint an experienced Buyer to support the delivery of infrastructure projects and maintenance programmes.

The Role

As Buyer, you will play a key role in managing procurement activities across multiple highways and civil engineering projects, ensuring materials, plant and subcontract services are sourced efficiently, commercially and in line with project requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

* Procuring materials, plant, and subcontract packages to support project delivery

* Developing and maintaining strong supplier and subcontractor relationships

* Negotiating pricing, terms, and supply agreements to achieve best value

* Supporting project teams with procurement planning and programme requirements

* Monitoring supplier performance, lead times, and market conditions

* Managing purchase orders and ensuring compliance with company procedures

* Working closely with commercial and operational teams to deliver cost-effective solutions

* Identifying opportunities for supply chain efficiencies and cost savings

About You

* Previous experience in a Buyer or Procurement role within civil engineering or highways

* Strong understanding of materials and supply chains across infrastructure projects

* Commercially aware with proven negotiation skills

* Experience managing supplier relationships and procurement schedules

* Ability to work in a fast-paced project environment

* Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

* Familiarity with procurement systems and reporting tools
