Job Description - Buyer

We're looking for a commercially focused Buyer to join a growing business and play a key role in driving cost savings, improving supplier performance, and supporting business growth.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced purchasing professional who thrives on negotiation, enjoys analysing data, and is passionate about securing the best commercial outcomes. You'll be responsible for managing supplier relationships, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring the business achieves maximum value across its supplier base.

The Role

As a Buyer, you will be responsible for developing and implementing procurement strategies that deliver competitive pricing, improve commercial terms, and maintain product availability.

Your duties will include:

Conducting supplier and product category reviews to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Negotiating pricing, rebates, payment terms, and commercial agreements.
Managing product rationalisation, consolidation, and discontinuation projects.
Benchmarking suppliers and undertaking market price comparisons.
Sourcing new products, suppliers, and alternative supply routes.
Supporting tender submissions through the collection of supplier pricing and commercial information.
Managing special order and non-standard sourcing requests.
Monitoring supplier performance and implementing improvement plans where required.
Analysing market trends, supplier activity, and industry developments.
Maintaining accurate product and supplier information.
Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
Supporting wider purchasing and supply chain improvement initiatives.

About You

To be successful in this role, you'll need to be commercially minded, highly organised, and confident working with suppliers at all levels.

You'll ideally have:

Previous experience in a Buyer, Purchasing, Procurement, or Supply Chain role.
Proven experience negotiating with suppliers and delivering measurable cost savings.
Strong commercial awareness and excellent analytical skills.
The ability to interpret pricing, margin, and supplier performance data.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
A proactive and self-motivated approach to work.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
High attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
The ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
