Buyer

We’re recruiting an experienced Buyer to join the Supply Chain team of a growing manufacturer and supplier of specialist construction products. This is a varied position combining international procurement, supplier management, inventory planning and continuous improvement, with the opportunity to help strengthen purchasing systems and processes across the business.

Location: Suffolk (Nr Ipswich)

Salary: £35,000–£40,000 (DOE) + Fantastic Benefits

The Role

Reporting to the Procurement and Business Process Manager, you’ll manage an assigned portfolio of suppliers and products, with a particular focus on intercompany and international procurement.

You’ll take responsibility for day-to-day purchasing activity, supplier performance and stock availability, ensuring products are procured efficiently, competitively and in line with customer and operational requirements.

Your responsibilities will include:

* Managing relationships with an assigned portfolio of suppliers

* Raising and managing purchase orders against agreed purchasing plans

* Analysing forecasts, stock levels, shortages and potential supply risks

* Monitoring supplier pricing, delivery performance and agreed service levels

* Supporting supplier negotiations, sourcing exercises and cost-saving initiatives

* Producing purchasing, inventory and supplier performance reports

* Supporting ERP development, testing, data accuracy and process improvements

* Working closely with Customer Service, Operations and Logistics

* Providing day-to-day guidance and workload support to the Purchasing Coordinator

The Ideal Candidate

You’ll have previous experience within a Buyer, Procurement or Supply Chain position and be comfortable managing suppliers, purchasing activity and stock requirements within a fast-moving environment.

International procurement experience is important, alongside a good understanding of supplier performance, demand planning and inventory management.

You’ll also need:

* Experience managing supplier relationships and leading supplier meetings

* Experience supporting sourcing exercises and commercial negotiations

* Strong analytical and problem-solving ability

* Confidence working with purchasing data, KPIs and performance reports

* Strong ERP system experience

* Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

* Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills

* The ability to manage competing priorities independently

Previous experience within roofing products, construction materials, building products or a related manufacturing environment would be advantageous. Experience supporting ERP improvement projects, intercompany purchasing or a small team would also be beneficial.
