Job Description - Buying and Partnerships Manager

Buying and Partnerships Manager – Premium Wine & Spirits
Location: London, UK (Hybrid – 4 days in-office 1 day remote)
Full-time | Permanent

A fast-growing luxury retail startup in the premium drinks sector is seeking an experienced Buying and Partnerships Manager to take ownership of its wine and spirits category across both retail and eCommerce. This is a unique opportunity to shape product strategy and build impactful supplier partnerships from the ground up.

The Role

You’ll lead the end-to-end buying strategy, combining strong commercial acumen with category insight and trend awareness. This role requires someone with the confidence to negotiate, the curiosity to innovate, and the tenacity to deliver results in a dynamic, startup environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the buying strategy across fine wine and spirits
  • Source new, innovative, and commercially viable products
  • Build and negotiate Joint Business Plans with suppliers and producers
  • Oversee pricing, margin, and profitability to maximise performance
  • Drive category innovation, including branded and co-branded product development
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, retail, and ecommerce teams
  • Manage supplier relationships, logistics partners, and inventory performance
  • Monitor sales data and market trends to inform decision-making and forecasting
What We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years in buying, category management, or commercial roles within wine & spirits or luxury FMCG
  • Proven success in supplier negotiation and building high-value partnerships
  • A deep understanding of the UK and global alcohol markets
  • Experience in a startup or fast-growing business environment
  • Strong data-led decision-making skills and commercial awareness
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate hands-on and strategically
