Location: Derbyshire - Fully Onsite
Contract: Initial 6-12 Months
Day Rate: Negotiable DOE
IR35: Outside IR35
Security Clearance: Current SC or DV Required

We're working with an established technology and engineering business in Derbyshire that is looking to appoint an experienced Windows Application Software Engineer on an initial 6-12 month contract.

You'll join an experienced engineering team working on complex products and systems within a high-integrity environment.

This is a fully onsite assignment due to the nature of the projects and systems involved. There is potential for longer-term work beyond the initial contract based on ongoing project requirements and deliverables.

What You'll Do

* Analyse customer and system requirements and translate them into maintainable software designs.

* Develop Windows applications using C#, WPF/XAML and WinForms.

* Contribute across software development, integration and testing.

* Develop and implement automated unit tests.

* Participate in code reviews and produce appropriate technical documentation.

* Investigate and resolve software issues.

* Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary engineering team while taking ownership of individual deliverables.

* Produce high-quality software for secure and high-integrity applications.

Essential Skills & Experience

* Strong commercial Windows application development experience.

* C# development.

* WPF / XAML.

* WinForms.

* Cross-platform development using .NET MAUI, Project Uno or similar.

* Source control using Git, SVN or CVS.

* Working knowledge of SQL databases including MySQL, SQLite or similar.

* Understanding of networking protocols including HTTP, SNMP and TFTP.

* Automated unit testing.

* Requirements capture and problem analysis.

* Technical documentation and report writing.

* Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Desirable Skills

* Embedded C / C++.

* Python, Perl or PowerShell.

* Web front-end development.

* Network security and vulnerability analysis.

* Static analysis tools.

* Software unit test automation tools such as LDRA or Parasoft.

* Previous experience working within Defence, Cyber Security, National Security or other high-integrity environments.

Security Clearance - Applicants must already hold current SC or DV Security Clearance.

Due to the secure nature of the work, candidates without existing clearance cannot be considered for this particular contract assignment.
