CAD Manager
Working arrangement: 3 days per week from the office, 2 days from home
Location: South Essex
Rate - £45 - £55 per hour
IR35 status - To be determined, but likely inside IR35
Contract duration - 6 months initially
 
Role Overview
 
A leading infrastructure project is seeking an experienced CAD Manager to support the delivery of a major highways project in the south east.
 
This is a key role responsible for managing Engineering Survey CAD operations, ensuring high-quality CAD data production, maintaining project standards and supporting effective collaboration between engineering, surveying and design teams.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, develop CAD processes and workflows, and ensure that all survey and design information is accurately processed, managed and delivered in line with project requirements, client specifications and industry standards.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
As CAD Manager, you will:
 
·Act as the key interface between Engineering Surveying, Engineering and Design teams to ensure the correct CAD data is being utilised and that all teams are working to the required standards and procedures.
·Oversee Engineering Survey CAD operations, providing technical guidance and supporting the project team with efficient CAD delivery.
·Manage the production, processing and delivery of survey CAD data, ensuring engineering surveys are accurately prepared and aligned with project CAD specifications.
·Liaise with design teams to ensure accurate and timely transfer of CAD information to engineering and survey teams working on site.
·Develop, implement and maintain CAD standards, workflows and best practice procedures in line with client requirements.
·Coordinate with project teams to understand design requirements and ensure CAD deliverables meet agreed specifications.
·Work closely with the Engineering Survey Manager and Utility Coordinator to ensure subsurface data is accurately recorded, represented and shared appropriately.
·Ensure project utility information is correctly incorporated into CAD outputs to support safe construction activities, including permit-to-dig processes.
·Manage CAD software licences, upgrades and hardware requirements to maintain effective operational performance.
·Provide training, guidance and technical support to project teams using CAD and survey software.
·Ensure compliance with company quality standards, industry regulations, BIM requirements and client expectations.
·Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance CAD processes and improve data management across the project.

What You'll Achieve
 
Success in this role will be measured by your ability to:
 
·Improve consistency and best practice in the use, management and sharing of survey CAD data across the project.
·Ensure engineering and site teams have access to accurate, reliable and compliant CAD information.
·Enhance the process for delivering setting out information from design teams to site operations.
·Support safe delivery by ensuring accurate representation and management of subsurface utility information.
·Maintain high-quality CAD outputs that support efficient project delivery.

What You'll Bring
 
To be successful in this role, you will have:
 
·Experience working in a CAD management, survey data management or engineering design environment.
·Experience processing and delivering survey data in multiple CAD formats.
·Proven experience within a CAD/survey data management role, ideally with experience supervising or leading others.
·Strong knowledge of CAD software packages such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation or similar platforms.
·Knowledge and understanding of ISO 19650 BIM processes and protocols.
·Experience working on construction, infrastructure or major engineering projects.
·Understanding of engineering survey workflows, CAD standards and technical documentation requirements.
·Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
·The ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams.
·A good understanding of industry standards, regulations and requirements relating to engineering design documentation.

Desirable Experience
 
·Experience supporting major infrastructure or transport projects.
·Previous experience managing CAD standards and workflows across large project teams.
·Understanding of engineering surveying, utilities and construction delivery processes.
·Experience working within a BIM-enabled project environment.
