We're looking for a CAD Technician to join a growing engineering team delivering innovative wastewater treatment and environmental engineering projects across the UK. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your technical skills while working alongside experienced engineers on projects from initial concept through to construction.
Whether you're a Civil Engineering graduate with some industry experience or an early-career CAD Technician looking to broaden your knowledge, this role offers genuine progression and the chance to become involved in every stage of the design process.
What You'll Be Doing
As part of the design team, you'll help produce technical drawings and support the delivery of engineering projects from concept through to completion.
Your responsibilities will include:
*
Producing accurate 2D and 3D engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
*
Developing layouts for pipework, drainage, chambers and associated civil works.
*
Creating general arrangement drawings, sections, detailed drawings and construction packages.
*
Interpreting topographical surveys, site information and existing drawings.
*
Assisting with hydraulic design calculations and engineering design work.
*
Preparing drawings and technical information for construction teams and subcontractors.
*
Supporting engineers with design development and project delivery.
*
Updating drawings to reflect site changes and design revisions.
*
Working closely with engineers, project managers, clients and contractors.
*
Maintaining accurate drawing records and project documentation.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for someone with a genuine interest in engineering design and a desire to learn and develop.
Ideally you'll have:
*
A Civil Engineering degree or relevant engineering qualification.
*
Around two years' experience in a CAD, civil engineering or design role.
*
Good working knowledge of AutoCAD (2D and 3D).
*
A solid understanding of civil engineering principles and construction methods.
*
The ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and survey information.
*
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
*
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
*
A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
Desirable Experience
It would be advantageous if you have experience or knowledge of:
*
Wastewater, drainage, water or environmental engineering.
*
Hydraulic calculations and flow design.
*
Pipe sizing, levels and hydraulic profiles.
*
Construction or site-based engineering projects.
Why Join Us?
This is more than a CAD position—it's an opportunity to build a long-term career in engineering design.
You'll benefit from:
*
A clear pathway for career progression.
*
Hands-on involvement across the full project lifecycle.
*
Exposure to interesting, environmentally focused engineering projects.
*
Ongoing support and mentoring from experienced engineers.
*
A friendly, collaborative team where you'll be encouraged to develop your skills and take on increasing responsibility.
