Our client is a well-established engineering and manufacturing business specialising in precision CNC machining and the production of technically demanding components.
Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer to join their engineering team.
This is a good opportunity for an experienced CAD/CAM Programmer looking to join a growing engineering business where they can take ownership of programming and play an important role in the manufacturing process.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for creating and developing CNC programmes, supporting the manufacturing process and ensuring jobs are produced accurately, efficiently and to the required standards.
Responsibilities:
* Creating CNC programmes for a range of CNC machinery
* Developing efficient 3, 4 and 5-axis toolpaths
* Using CAD/CAM software to programme complex components
* Designing and producing your own fixtures and workholding
* Identifying tooling requirements and ensuring the correct tooling is available
* Taking a right-first-time approach to programming and manufacture
* Working with a range of materials including plastics, composites, foams and aluminium
* Interpreting engineering drawings and working to tight tolerances
* Applying GD&T and geometric tolerancing principles
* Working closely with the Engineering Manager to determine the most effective manufacturing methods
* Supporting production with technical problem solving where required
* Ensuring programmes achieve the required tolerances and surface finishes
Candidate
Experience within a precision engineering/manufacturing environment
Strong experience with CAD/CAM programming
Experience using Autodesk PowerMill, HyperMill or Siemens NX
SolidWorks experience would be advantageous but is not essential
Strong understanding of 3, 4 and 5-axis machining
Good knowledge of toolpaths, tooling and workholding
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
Strong understanding of geometric tolerancing
Experience working with a variety of materials
Aerospace, motorsport or another highly regulated/precision manufacturing background would be advantageous
Excellent attention to detail
Organised and self-motivated
A natural problem solver
Comfortable working independently and making decisions
Confident communicator with a practical approach to problem solving
