We are currently recruiting for an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join a growing specialist engineering organisation supporting customers across the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical sectors.
This is a hands-on, customer facing position involving the assembly, installation, commissioning, qualification, calibration, and technical support of specialist process and manufacturing equipment and machinery.
The successful candidate will have a strong Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical Engineering background, combined with practical experience working with process equipment and ideally within a regulated pharma or life science manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
Install, reassemble, start up and commission specialist process and pharmaceutical equipment Execute equipment qualification and validation activities, including SAT, IQ and OQ Support equipment and process cycle development Carry out equipment calibration, preventative maintenance and technical troubleshooting Provide technical and breakdown support to customers Prepare and manage commissioning, servicing, calibration and validation documentation Produce clear, accurate and concise technical reports Read and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings, wiring diagrams, technical specifications and engineering documentation Work closely with customer engineering, automation and process teams, as well as equipment suppliers Provide technical support and customer training where required Support FAT activities and new equipment design/qualification discussions Contribute to the training and development of other engineering colleagues Maintain effective communication with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders
Key Skills and Experience
Hands-on Electrical, Instrumentation, Mechanical or Electro-Mechanical engineering experience Practical experience commissioning and starting up process or industrial equipment Experience with equipment and instrument calibration Experience executing validation protocols such as SAT, IQ and OQ Ability to understand and interpret P&IDs, GA drawings and electrical/wiring diagrams Experience working with process equipment, utilities or specialist industrial equipment Strong technical reporting and documentation skills Good understanding of equipment validation within regulated environments Knowledge of PLCs and process equipment network configuration would be advantageous Experience within pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, life sciences is highly desirable Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple deliverables Ability to work independently and use initiative Strong customer-facing and communication skills
Additional Requirements
Full clean driving licence. Willingness and ability to travel extensively. The role will involve regular travel throughout the UK and wider Europe week to week Candidates must be comfortable with extended periods away from home and working at customer sites. A flexible and adaptable approach to working is essential.
Desirable Experience
Experience with validation data logging systems such as E-Val Pro, or an equivalent system, would be beneficial. Full training is provided regardless of the level
