My client, a leading textile manufacturer, is looking for a hands-on Maintenance Engineer to maintain and improve carding machinery, drive reliability, and support continuous improvement in a fast-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out PPM and respond to equipment breakdowns.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
Work with production and engineering teams to improve machine performance.
Maintain accurate maintenance records and support improvement projects.
Mentor operators and apprentices to build internal capability.
Reduce contractor reliance through robust engineering solutions.
Assist with spare parts management and asset planning.
Ensure all work meets health, safety, and environmental standards.
Experience & Qualifications
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering.
Experience with carding machinery in manufacturing is a must.
Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills.
Knowledge of root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Team player who can also work independently.
Clear communicator with strong documentation skills.
Proactive, safety-focused, and reliability-driven.
Willingness to mentor junior staff.
Experience in textile or process-driven industries.
