About the role:
The Bedfordshire Employment and Skills Academy (BESA) seeks to develop and deliver services that support adults, young people and businesses improve their skills levels, get people into work or further training, and support economic growth.
We are pleased to be recruiting an Employment and Skills Outreach Officer, with a focus on promoting the BESA apprenticeship offer. This post will engage with residents, schools, childcare settings and local businesses directly to identify skills gaps and promote BESA’s apprenticeships and qualifications. The post holder will attend careers and community events across the county to further promote our services to residents and stakeholders. This is a fixed term position for 12 months.
This post will have a primary focus on promoting our apprenticeship provision and therefore will advertise our apprenticeship offer using social media, face to face and electronic means of communication. The post holder will engage with schools, childcare settings and local businesses on their journey to recruit an apprentice and take responsibility for onboarding the apprentice onto their programme. Onboarding an apprentice consists of shortlisting candidates, carrying out second interviews, undertaking initial assessments and making judgements based on Department for Education (DfE) eligibility criteria to help build an effective learning programme. Due to the nature of the position, the post holder must have knowledge and experience of compliance with DfE apprenticeship funding rules.
You will work with a range of stakeholders including internal services, schools, businesses, charities, Department for Work and Pensions and our partner training providers.
You’ll need to have experience and knowledge of apprenticeship funding rules, excellent IT skills, including the ability to confidently use Microsoft Excel. Strong verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and organisational skills are key to this role, as well as a passion in supporting others to reach their learning and employment goals. Experience of engaging with stakeholders, and promotion are preferred.
Due to the nature of this role, a full, valid UK driving licence and access to your own car is essential.
Whilst a Level 2 Information Advice and Guidance Qualification is desirable, past experience and knowledge of working with DfE funding rules are essential.
