Salary: £45,326 - £50,436 per annum pro rata


Hours: Full-time - 37 hours per week


Location: You will be expected to attend a CBC office location as often as needed to carry out your role, which will be no less than once per month.


Contract Type: Hybrid - Fixed Term Contract / Secondment Opportunity until August 2028

About the role:


We are looking for an experienced Adult Social Care professional to join Central Bedfordshire Council as a Legacy Mentor.


 


This is a unique opportunity for someone in the later stages of their career to make a lasting difference by supporting the next generation of Care Home Managers. The role is aligned to the NHS Legacy Mentor model and focuses on providing mentoring, coaching and practical guidance to newly appointed managers in the early stages of their career.


 


You will play a key role in strengthening leadership across the sector, supporting workforce development, improving retention, and contributing to high-quality care for residents across Central Bedfordshire.


 


What you will be doing


In this role, you will:



  • Provide one-to-one mentoring and coaching to newly appointed Care Home Managers and learners on placement

  • Support early-career professionals to develop confidence, capability and leadership skills

  • Share your professional knowledge and experience to promote best practice in care settings

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, partners and placement support staff to ensure a consistent and high-quality learning experience

  • Provide advice and support on managing workload, challenges and professional responsibilities

  • Support staff undertaking relevant qualifications and development opportunities

  • Promote wellbeing and provide pastoral support to mentees and colleagues

  • Contribute to improving retention, particularly within the first two years of management roles

  • Champion the Legacy Mentor role and share good practice across the organisation


 


About you


You will be:



  • An experienced Adult Social Care professional, ideally with a background in care home management or a similar leadership role

  • Passionate about supporting and developing others

  • A strong communicator, able to build positive and effective working relationships

  • Empathetic, patient and approachable, with a commitment to improving outcomes for residents

  • Able to share knowledge and provide practical, real-world guidance

  • Experienced in, or willing to develop skills in, coaching and mentoring

  • Comfortable working collaboratively within a system-wide approach
