Estate Caretaker Pertemps is looking for a temporary full-time caretaker for their client based in the south of Telford, initially for around two months may extend longer.
You will need to make sure that the estate is maintained to a high standard, is clean and free from rubbish, graffiti, weeds and anything that would impact on resident’s enjoyment of the area. To ensure residential blocks are clean and compliant with Health and Safety to carry out routine communal services, cleaning, minor repairs, inspections and building safety checks across the village (including community spaces/buildings). Ensuring community spaces/buildings are set up for bookings, including opening and closing the building outside of normal hours (evenings and weekends).
You will be a key holder for out of hour’s activities, to clean and maintain community spaces, controlling the provision and replenish toiletry items, including requisition, storage and distribution of such items, to be aware of Health and Safety requirements acting as a fire steward in the event of an emergency, you will be carrying out a schedule of safety and compliance checks, recording and reporting findings, removing rubbish and other hazards identified during routine safety checks or as directed, highlighting any concerns to the relevant Officer, providing caretaking duties such as; minor repairs, maintenance tasks, gardening, deliveries, cleaning, removal’s, as directed, engaging with customers and provide advice on the correct methods for disposing of rubbish and for storage of items so as to prevent fly-tipping and other hazards from occurring, ensuring that all vehicle and driving safety checks are carried out in accordance with policy and procedures, promoting the service and develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external colleagues/partners.
Ensuring contractors deliver specifications and that they are carried out to a high standard and on time, supporting the team achieve its service targets and objectives and contribute to service development and continuous improvement in customer outcomes, being alert to potential safeguarding and anti-social behaviour issues and report your concerns promptly, participating in performance review and team meetings, and undertake training where necessary, supporting and participating in community events and activities.
You may be required work from other sites and places where your attendance is required. You are required to work flexibly including evenings and weekends as necessary to meet the needs of the service. There is a requirement to work evenings and weekends to support the running of the Centre.
Ideal Candidate Good levels of numeracy, literacy and IT skills. Clean, full Driving License. Experience of working in a customer service environment and have provided excellent customer service Experience in carrying out minor repairs, cleaning and ground maintenance Working using IT systems to deliver services Experience of improving services for residents Knowledge of relevant health and safety policies, procedures and legislation An understanding of COSHH and health and safety Relevant knowledge of tools and equipment for various maintenance tasks Good communication and interpersonal skills Strong self-organisation skills, ability to prioritise tasks, work to schedules, respond timely to requests for information and act on own initiative where necessary Problem solving and decision-making skills Ability to work quickly and safely and respond positively to periods of peak workloads Work well with others and develop good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders/partners Good level of written and verbal communication To work as an effective team member as well as working on your own People and Customer focussed Approachable and able to influence people Well organised and good at managing time Good at planning your work and problem solving. Required to work flexibly including evenings and weekends as necessary to meet the needs of the service. Ideally have a DBS
Hours You will work 37 Hours on a 4 week rota Over 7 Days Days 8.30-4.30 Occasional After hours with events
Salary £13.45 per hour
