Lead Premises Officer / Caretaker

Location: Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire
Salary: £29,000 – £31,500 per annum
Contract: Permanent, Full Time – 37 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP, although the school will consider candidates working a notice period

IC Talent are recruiting for an experienced and reliable Lead Premises Officer / Caretaker to join a primary school in the Sutton-in-Ashfield area.

As the sole Premises Officer, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running, safety, security and maintenance of the school site. You will work closely with the Headteacher and school staff, as well as external contractors and cleaners.

Key Responsibilities

Opening and securing the school each day.

General maintenance, repairs and caretaking duties.

*

Maintaining the school grounds and ensuring the site is safe and well presented.

*

Supporting risk assessments, health & safety and fire safety procedures.

*

Coordinating cleaners, contractors and estate services.

*

Liaising with external contractors and overseeing work on site.

*

Carrying out regular checks and ensuring facilities and equipment are safe and operational.

*

Acting as the main point of contact for the Headteacher and staff regarding premises matters.

*

Taking ownership of the overall condition and security of the school.

About You

The successful candidate will ideally have previous experience in a caretaker, premises, facilities or maintenance role, with good practical and DIY skills.

You will need to be reliable, proactive and confident working independently, with the ability to identify and resolve issues quickly. A good understanding of health and safety is desirable.

A driving licence would be advantageous, and ideally you will live locally due to the requirement to open and close the school site.

Working Hours

37 hours per week, with shifts likely to include:

6am – 2pm

7am – 3pm

*

8am – 4pm

*

10am – 6pm

There may be some split shifts, although the working pattern can be discussed with the Regional Manager.
