Job Description - Caretaker Estate Support Officer

Estate Support Officer
?? Location: Northampton
?? Full-time, Permanent
?? Salary: £24,378 – £26,601 per annum

Looking for a practical, hands-on role where no two days are the same? We’re seeking an experienced and reliable Estate Support Officer to help maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment across our busy site in Northampton.

?? Key Duties & Responsibilities:

Deliver general handyman and caretaker support across buildings and facilities
Conduct minor repairs: replacing light bulbs, fixing door handles, taps, painting touch-ups, etc.
Carry out regular maintenance checks and escalate larger issues to the Helpdesk
Ensure furniture, fixtures, and fittings are safe and in good working condition
Support with office, classroom, and equipment moves
Monitor outsourced cleaners and grounds teams; assist with general grounds upkeep when required
Daily litter picking, bin emptying, and ensuring the overall cleanliness of outdoor areas
Assist with seasonal groundworks such as clearing debris or filling small potholes

? What We’re Looking For:

A relevant Level 2 qualification in a trade (carpentry, plumbing, or electrical) is ideal
Experience in a similar maintenance, facilities, or estates-based role
Strong DIY skills and confidence in handling a wide range of minor repairs
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
Flexible, proactive attitude and willingness to adapt to site needs
Good interpersonal skills and a professional approach when engaging with staff and visitors
Understanding of basic health and safety procedures
